"Circle-time" routines are daily memorization techniques that allow students to learn new skills and concepts by adding to ones that they have already learned. Everything that is taught in Kindergarten is an essential building block to the daily skills that they will need for the rest of their lives.
We begin every day with "circle-time" routines which can be as basic as learning the days of the week or the letters of the alphabet and as expansive as learning how to compose 3-digit numbers or reading high-frequency words in context. Through the addition of the requested charts and visual aids such as alphabet, number lines, and calendars, students can refer back to these daily routines throughout the day to assist in their math and literacy learning and to build upon what was learned the previous day.
