How powerful it is to teach such resilient and driven high schoolers!
As a proud graduate of this high school, I’ve returned, not just as a teacher, but now as the school’s literacy coach to give back to the community that raised me. Our school is located in the heart of Overtown, a historically rich but economically challenged area in Miami. We serve over 700 students, many of whom face daily hardships. About 30% live in shelters or transitional housing, and nearly all qualify for free or reduced lunch. We also support a large population of English Language Learners.
Despite the challenges, our students are eager to learn and full of potential. With your help, we can provide them with the resources they need to thrive, reminding them that they are seen, supported, and capable of greatness.
