My students absolutely need to understand our history before we can make connections to our present and our future. They have such a desire to learn about how our nation came to be, but our textbooks provide them with a limited worldview. These books and TIME for Kids would open their eyes to so much more!
A History of US: Making Thirteen Colonies: 1600-1740 series has wonderful illustrations, stories, and best of all, humor! It truly helps my struggling learners and kids that are new to the United States understand our history more deeply.
I also appreciate the fact that The History of US series does not sugar coat the unpleasant parts of our nation's history, but tells the whole story!
