At this time my students have had no or very limited access to technology. They have averaged one 30 minute session in the computer lab per week, where they have focused on basic computer skills like keyboarding. We are not in step with schools around the state who are preparing students for college and careers. We are in an economically disadvantaged area with 74% of the students on free or reduced school lunches.
When using technology students aspire to work at a higher level and their buy-in increases significantly. They can see their academic endeavors connected to the world we are living in. They are able to read and work at levels specific to their needs. Students will be using the Chromebooks daily. Giving students access to technology will assist them in breaking the cycle of poverty and reaching new heights.
