I teach first grade in the Boston Public Schools, where most students come from low income households and do not have access to computers or tablets at home. Since we don't have a computer lab in the school or any working computers in the classroom, students are not given an opportunity to learn to type or use the technology you and I so often take for granted. My first grade students come to school excited to learn and ready to tackle the world, and I want to be able to nurture and expand their love for learning through interactive games and activities that will enhance their learning and prepare them for a world filled with technology. The iPads will be available at a center for students to play games on and enhance their skills, without needing an adult present to help them, while preparing them for any career they want in the future.
