As a first grade teacher in a low-income neighborhood in New Orleans, LA I know my students face more adversities than even I realize. I am hopeful my students are excited to continue the journey as young and beginning readers. From this, I'm confident I can connect with them, and their families, to create a lasting love of learning through reading!
By donating to my classroom library project you are not only providing reading material to low-income students but are also fostering students' love of reading & learning! I carefully choose books from Amazon that I thought would interest my students and keep them engaged. I also was purposeful in the reading levels I choose, as many of my students might start off their first-grade year reading under grade level. It was important to me to create a dedicated reading area/library in my classroom that students would want to visit, so I added flexible seating (Wobble Cushions) from Lakeshore (My students in the past have loved these flex seating items!) and a 4'x6' rug from Amazon.
Thank you very much for your time and donation- it truly means the world to me and my students!
