Part of our Science curriculum is studying rocks and minerals. The students have a tray displaying 30-40 rocks or minerals on their desk. If a student identifies a mineral in a rock, for example, quartz, then we could put the rock on the document camera and display it on the SmartBoard. Students could then use the SmartBoard markers to circle different minerals they see. This camera will also be helpful for showing students how to work math problems, modeling step by step instructions for "foldables" for Interactive Notebooks, and for demonstrating experiments.
Students can see demonstrations projected on the SmartBoard instead of gathering around my desk. After recording their observations, they can use colored pencils to accurately draw what they observed in their Science notebook.
