Education is our passport for the future, for it is those who prepare for it today, that lead us into tomorrow.
I am an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher for the BEST first, third, and fifth grade students in a large elementary school that has an increasing population of English language learner students each year from all over the world! Due to our increasing English language learner population, there is also a second ESL teacher at my school.
The diverse elementary school in which I teach is a public school that receives a high level of instructional and community support to help meet the individual needs of our students. Our student population is made up of approximately 60% of students who receive free and reduced lunches. Educators at my school strive to ensure that all of our K-5 students perform on grade level or above in reading, writing, and math as measured by quarterly and state assessments.
