Each week students will read, discuss in their collaborative tutorial groups, and share out a chapter. Specifically, every Wednesday will be designated as "Read-Aloud, Think Aloud, Talk Aloud, Write and Share Aloud" AVID Book Read. Students will use the AVID strategy of "Marking The Text, and Numbering the Paragraphs," for better discussions, vocabulary development, and comprehension of concepts presented.
For their reflection piece, students will independently complete their corresponding workbook assignment and give feedback via our Google Classroom on highlights of the chapter, how they saw themselves in the reading and share points of view through online conversations.
Whole class discussions will occur via Philosophical Chairs as the process will be student led with minimal teacher directed instruction. This will be our their first semester read. These discussions will occur on Fridays, and students will be able to add more reflections in our AVID Google Classroom.
