The students at our school are incredibly hard working, even though many face incredibly challenging lives at home. Our school is a title one school, and most of our students are on free and reduced lunch. Many of our students are also ESOL learners, and families do not speak English at home. Being in an urban setting, with few resources, most of their learning is happening solely in our classrooms. We have the most incredible teachers who dedicate their lives to help students challenge themselves, and be prepared for their futures. Our students are incredibly sweet, kind, and appreciative of all they have been offered. My classroom this next year will be filled with first graders, who have just competed one year of common core instruction. They need as many supports as possible in order to continue to be successful, deep thinkers for today's standards. They are wonderful students who will have your hearts the moment you meet them.
