I teach English II to ambitious 10th grade students at Lanier High School in Jackson, Mississippi. Our Title I school is home to bright learners, forward thinkers, and thoughtful peers. Lanier's pride runs deep, and our school's history runs deeper. Legacies are constructed daily on Maple Street-- which is the standard we set here at #833Nation. At Lanier, we vow that #Every1GraduatesCollegeorCareerReady. Our classroom prioritizes reading and writing as life skills, dispelling the notion that English has to be a chore. We read rich texts, write compelling stories, and provide real world context to global sources of literature. Our classroom is a safe space that breeds innovation and collaboration. Above all, our class is a welcoming space for *everyone*!
