Putting a book into the hands of a child is an act of love, and I love my students. I give them lots of time to choose, read, and share books according to their own preferences. I want my students to be happy, comfortable, and fully engaged in reading. This can be challenging because many of my students come from homes with little or no culture of reading. Every year I work hard to help every student to build their own literary life of reading and writing.
