I teach a wonderful and talented group of fifth grade students in Oregon. The area I teach in is beautifully unique in its makeup. While we have many middle class students, but we have quite a large number of low-income, homeless and refugee students, as well as english language learners (ELD). A large number of our students face past and current traumas that greatly affect them on a day-to-day basis. My school has a total of 100% free and reduced-price lunch with about a 30% ELD population.
