We have the highest percentage of military families in the Chula Vista Elementary School District. Our military population make up 32% of our student body. Many of our students, who are missing their deployed parents, find solace with music as a creative outlet. We have a culturally diverse student population of 670 students at Wolf Canyon with 19% being English Learners. Every student in school from KG - Grade 6 has a music lesson every week. We are a proud recipient of a grant from VH-1 Save The Music Foundation, so we have an amazing set of string instruments. My students in grades 4, 5 and 6 love having the opportunity to learn to play string instruments! We have approximately one hundred student involved in musical activities before and after-school, for guitars, recorders, GLEE Club and a string orchestra. My students enjoy having the opportunity to learn together, be creative, and make music.
