I teach in a rural, high poverty area. Most of my students are on free and reduced lunch (over 80%). Many of my students are second language learners (about 50%). I actually went to elementary school in the early 90's at the school I teach at, as did my biological mom (in the 1960's) and my adoptive mom (in the 1970's). I love teaching where my family and I went to school!!!
