One area my students struggle the most with is social skills. I'm requesting board games and exploratory materials for my students to use to build their social skills. My students struggle with basic conversation skills and board games encourage conversations between them and their classmates. These exploratory science stations will help them to expand their knowledge in how things grow and form.
In my classroom, we practice social skills daily using cooperative learning strategies.
The addition of these materials will encourage them to focus and interact with their peers despite their disabilities.
Another area my students struggle with is sitting still and staying focused. Due to their various emotional and behavioral disorders, my students can easily become distracted during instructional time. Motion stools will allow my students to move while remaining seated and enhance their focus. The implementation of motion stools in my classroom would have a very positive impact on my students both academically and behaviorally.
