My students need chromebooks to allow for greater access to web-based programs for reading, comprehension, and writing. Student Leaders take ownership of their own learning and the students need to have greater access to technology to hear, read, and answer questions about the topics they will read about. Center time during the day will provide the time that they need to work on their reading and writing goals and be able to track their success in fluency, sight words, comprehension, and writing. They will be able to write informative/explanatory texts in which they name a topic, supply some facts about the topic, and provide some sense of closure. I hope to have students make their own choices in what they would like to read. The Article-a-Day web-based program from ReadWorks will give students a chance to independently choose a topic, read about it, focus on vocabulary and comprehension and write a response to their reading. Through this website, my students will be able to choose topics that interest them. Students read more when they have a choice in what they read, and these chromebooks will provide a way to help my students grow stronger in reading.
