I teach science and technology in a junior high in Arkansas. My classes are made up of curious 7th and 8th graders who are driven to learn. We are striving to become an innovative 21st century classroom through the use of Project Based Learning and Genius Hour. My classroom also serves as a makerspace, the FabLab, that is available for the use by all students in our school. The FabLab is utilized twice a week before school and during lunch as well as during enrichment time for students who are doing well in all of their classes. Unfortunately, due to budgetary issues, there is not enough money for us to buy items that are not considered an absolute necessity. This can make it difficult to do some of the student driven work that we love in class as well in the FabLab.
