The goal of having a classroom sensory center is for the students to become appropriately re-engaged in learning activities as quickly as possible. In a sensory center my students can engage in calming activities to help manage their emotional state when they are upset or overwhelmed. I will also use sensory tools to teach students to strengthen their ability to regulate their emotions.
These students often struggle to get through the day due to so many over stimulating experiences. Sensory materials can also be utilized when students need a break from work, instruction, or lessons. These sensory materials would be the perfect addition to our classroom!
