In my class, we spend 30-45 minutes a day completing independent reading and teacher/student conferencing. This helps me to know what my student's interests are, what their reading fluency is like, and what reading skills they need to improve on. This also allows students to pick books of interest to read, therefore providing more engagement and investment.
I would like our classroom library to have a variety of books that not only meets students needed reading levels but also meets their interests.
I am a 4th-year teacher and have been building my book library (with mostly my own money) for the past couple of years. These sets would go a long way in contributing to helping me provide a library that meets variety, interest, and the differentiation needs of ALL my students.
