The books I am requesting will all support curriculum and lesson plans I have prepared to teach my students social skills. The majority of the kids I counsel are in counseling because of their behavioral problems. Their behavioral problems have a direct affect on their academics and social skills. I will use these books to better help them reflect on their behavior and learn from their mistakes in a fun and entertaining way. The books I have selected will help my students feel like they are not alone in their struggles. My students are unbelievably resilient; these books will help them see that. My end goal is that if I could help these elementary kids build coping skills, they will be better able to deal with whatever life challenges they face and have a better chance of focusing on their academics.
