James Baldwin wrote, "The purpose of education…is to create in a person the ability to look at the world for himself, to make his own decisions." My students are trailblazers, thinkers, and agents of change. They break through glass ceilings, and actively share their voice, while uplifting others.
My classes consist of 30 - 32 brilliant, hardworking and inspiring people who constantly fight to make a difference wherever they go, and demand an environment that is inclusive, welcoming, and safe for all.
Even so, many of my students come from low-income households and have learning disabilities which sometimes makes achieving their goals that much harder.
What I love about my students is the fact that they never let these factors stop them from becoming who they are meant to be: A strong community of people who have the power to shape the world around them and are never afraid of using their voices.
