I really enjoy the idea of an escape room to enhance student engagement, team work, and critical thinking. The various locks, lock boxes, and black light and pen will help me design an interactive final, where students must solve chemistry problems and riddles to "escape" the classroom and leave for the summer.
Students will be asked to solve problems which aid them in opening locks, deciphering codes, opening hidden boxes, and more; student engagement and curiosity will be at its peak. Students who are engaged in the activity and feel immediate reward for their learning will be more encouraged to participate and contribute to the class. This activity will contribute to a better classroom culture and a memorable experience for the students.
