My students need basic organic chemistry equipment, such as round bottom glassware, condensers, solvents, and suction filtration capabilities for our new interactive class. My students need these materials in order to properly equip our new lab to perform organic chemistry experiments. Through collaboration with local colleges and universities, we will offer an interactive and research based organic chemistry elective. This class will bring in local and regional scientists to teach basic organic chemistry knowledge through hands-on demonstration.
Glassware will be used to set up and perform real chemical reactions. We will use plastic backed silica plates in order to monitor reaction progress and observe how different reaction products contain different functional groups based on staining techniques. This will give students a real life look into the world of chemistry!
