I teach 9th grade English Language Arts, 9th grade ELA RTI, and Creative Writing (10th-12th grades). I teach a beautifully diverse group of students whom I like to refer as "my kids." I love getting to know them and learning how to tailor instruction to help them. Freshmen are a special group, as many other teachers above or below might attest, but they're my favorite! They come to the high school eager, yet nervous, to embark on a very special, memorable journey. I'm so glad that I get to be a part of it.
Keeping things interesting and fresh keeps me and my kids on our toes. In my tiny classroom, it's especially cozy. We have no choice but to be close and help one another learn not only content, but how to be better people in general. Flexible seating or not, my "dojo" is one of my favorite places to be, and I feel my students agree.
