Flexible seating is about giving our students choice and power over where they learn and work. I already have flexible seating which allows students to wobble, stand, bounce and sit at low tables. I would like to allow my students to have even more choice in the seating they can choose from. We need bath mats, fast food trays and clipboards.
Many young students are used to reading and writing while sitting or lying down on the floor. The bath mats will give students something to use to define their own space when lying down or sitting on the floor. The food trays will give the students a place to contain their work while working beyond tables. The clipboards will give the students a choice of hard surfaces to work on while lying down, sitting or walking around the room.
