My students will use the camera, over the next 9 months, to create video personal narratives, showcasing people, places and things that have shaped them and that influence their ideas of success and hope.
Utilizing skills taught in class, each student will create a video narrative that will be showcased at a family event at the conclusion of May called "See My World, Hear My Voice" where students will share their narratives with community members, parents, family and friends.
Through this project, students will execute brainstorming, planning and execution skills that are transferable across the curriculum. They will also be able to be view, and perhaps be empathetic and sympathetic to, others' situations, being able to view firsthand the experience of others.
Through this project, I hope to foster a greater compassion and understanding for each student, as well as to create within each of them a sense of pride at creating something unique and powerful from each student's individual background.
