The students come from a diverse background with differences in socio-economic standing as well as experiences. Many of the students are latch-key kids with parents working one or two jobs to give the children the opportunities they never had. Since they are latch-key kids they spend many hours in the gym or on the athletic fields playing their respective sports and have fun while learning teamwork and learning to be a part of something bigger than just themselves. They aspire to play in college and continue a sport that has afforded them enjoyment and the ability to be a part of a bigger family.
