Rugs are an important organizational tool in the classroom that allows students the ability to learn as a whole group in a comfortable setting. Before Hurricane Harvey hit you would walk into my classroom and see my students and I sitting on a rug enjoying our lesson and learning from each other.
Having my students sit on the rug allows me to monitor them more closely and they are more engaged in the lesson.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them better organizational skills and allowing them to work freely around the classroom. The clipboards will allow them to take notes if they don't want to sit at their desk, these will be extremely beneficial for some students that need to sit closer to the board. The beanbag chair will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options when they want to work alone or just lounge around and read a book.
Since most of my students are English Language Learners I have also asked for visuals in my classroom. The chart paper will allow my students to have anchor charts that we will create together and will be hung around the classroom as reminders of past lessons.
In replenishing my classroom I have learned how something as simple as a rug can effectively change the way my students learn. I would like for my classroom to be a fun learning environment where students have options on where they would like to sit and learn in the classroom. This project will only help me to rebuild a classroom that once was.
