The students at my school are a sweet bunch!! The students are hard workers and overcome many hurdles each day to be successful at school. I teach at a title one school in which the majority of my students receive free or reduced lunch. (which means it is a high poverty school) There is also a large population of students at my school who are learning English as a second language. We also have lots of transient students who move in and out of our school frequently. In recent years, the reading scores at our school have declined. Lots of our students come to school with little experience with books and/or the formal written language of books. Students at my school need more opportunities to interact with books, listen to reading and have independent opportunities to read books.
