As an inclusive preschool classroom, we work to meet a variety of physical and sensory needs. When students are comfortable in their seats (many of my students are not comfortable sitting on the floor), they can focus on learning, rather than how their bodies feel. As a preschool classroom, we do not use desks. While we have a few tables with small chairs, most of our work and play take place on the floor.
Some of my students need bean bags to help them sit up and participate during whole group. Others will benefit from an inflatable circle to help with their wiggles. These seating options also help them understand where their body/seat is in space and can help keep in their space during group time.
