Our middle school club wrestling team has grown in size as well as dedication, success, and morale over the last two years. Since our area does not have regulated middle school wrestling teams, I found that we needed to get a club team started to promote the sport and also provide a foundation for our high school wrestlers before joining the varsity team. Our club team has girls and boys on the team and the varsity wrestlers come and volunteer their time to teach novice wrestlers the sport they love. While the club team is able to borrow the mats from the high school since it is off-season, certain equipment like jump ropes and first aid kits are not available to borrow. We know that this equipment will be a game-changer for our continued partnership with the high school team and keeping costs low so that everyone can join our club team if they are interested.
Our wrestlers have shown enthusiasm and excitement to learn a sport that is new to them and we want to support everyone’s ability to wrestle regardless of income. We hope that these equipment items will make a BIG impact on their enthusiasm and drive for the sport.
