I am a 5th grade Reading, Writing, and Social Studies teacher at Viola Cobb Elementary in Channelview, TX. I also volunteer as a sponsor of an after-school computer engineering club. I am a member of ATPE. We use whole brain learning strategies in our class to make it fun and interactive. We also use flexible seating to provide personal choice and accountability in the classroom.
Our school district in a lower income area and the vast majority of our students are title 1 and/or English language learners. We were also in one of the areas effected by Hurricane Harvey. Our school was not damaged (Thank God) but many of our children's homes were.
I have some of the best kids in the world and I want to give them a comfortable and fun place to learn. They are incredibly resilient to the hardships that came with Hurricane Harvey and are still eager learners.
My goal is to create life-long readers.
