I teach Business Education to high school students, majority of my classes consist of freshmen. They are adapting to being in a new environment and culture with higher expectations, they are happy that they can receive rewards for behaving positively and adhering to the expectations of our classroom and the school. This year our school implemented a digital PBIS rewards system that allows the students to be rewarded for points for positive behavior. The BEST part is the teachers were able to create their school store for students to purchase rewards with their points.
The BEST part for me is it has helped me manage the implementation of my cell phone policy. My students earn points for putting their phones in the phone bin during class instruction. Implementing the cell phone rewards policy has increased their grades and engagement in my class.
