When I told former co-workers that I was moving to my current school, they made it seem like I was headed to a war zone. At this school, we have the feast and the famine. Every student in my school receives free breakfast and lunch. For many of them, those are their only meals. Many take home donated food every Friday so they can get by until Monday. With that being said, I absolutely LOVE this school.
Every single student that walks into my classroom is referred to (by me) as "my kid". I want the absolute best for them. That means a warm smile and greeting every morning. It also means the best supplies I can get.
My job goes beyond the classroom. There have been many nights where I go home and can't get a student out of my head. Many of them enjoy coming to school because it is an escape from their home life. Whatever in my life is bothering me, gets pushed aside so I can make their day great.
