I have selected each of these titles as they share common themes and experiences of my students. I hope that being able to see themselves, their experiences, and their peers in the texts will help broaden their social emotional capacity. These books will be utilized in the book study portion of the Latinx Ladies small group for my middle schoolers. We will be using literacy and these book studies to dive deeper into the share latinx identity. Many of my students come from very insulated communities and could benefit from the multiple view points that can be provided through literature.
