My current primary laptop is an outdated 2011 MacBook and while it still works, it is extremely slow to load programs. It runs very hot and I have to be careful when I pick it up after it’s been on for awhile. The drive is screaming like a jet engine. This is what I am using to connect with my students daily.
I am on a class Google Meet for up to six hours daily, with several more hours a day being spent on additional school work like lesson planning, grading, and collaborating with colleagues. I’m also using an older iPad to facilitate breakout rooms on Google, track the progress of my students, and as a backup, if my MacBook is not performing ideally. This is not the best situation.
I hope to put all this behind me and concentrate on creating fun, amazing, online activities with a new MacBook Pro 2020. With this new method of teaching, I rely on technology more than ever and with a new laptop, I can spend more of my time on what really matters - my students. Thank you in advance for your support!
