I teach 9-12 grade high school World Languages to an enthusiastic and optimistic group of Hispanic and African American students. These students are eager to graduate and attend a four year college, something that in some cases very few in their families have done. They are full of hope and dreams, and the desire to achieve them surpasses their adversity with gangs, violence, and drugs that often keeps them from graduating and continuing their education .
