I am a Pre-K Dual Language Teacher teaching 33 kids. We have two classes which we integrate throughout the day. My students spend an equal amount of time in both classes immersing themselves in both languages. Throughout the day they are partnered with a native Spanish speaker working to become proficient in both languages. Through this program they are able to learn about different cultures from their peers and they are able to appreciate first hand the diversity within our community.
We are a very diverse community in New Jersey, serving low-income families. My students come to school each day looking forward to engaging themselves in activities and working with materials that are not always available to them at home.
