Having these seats in our classroom will make choosing reading offices so much more exciting for the kids, and it will allow my students to have a comfortable place to read everyday! During Reading Workshop, the largest component is Independent Reading. This is where the students spread out around the classroom and find a spot where they will be comfortable and can dive into their book for an extended period of time. At this point, I only have about five exciting reading offices for the kids to choose from, and 30 students. The majority of the kids are choosing to sit on the floor or back at their desk, which is not an exciting reading office. I want this time of the day to be something the kids look forward to. Getting to sit, lean back, and get absorbed in a book in a comfortable chair. The awesome thing about these chairs too, is that the students can pick the spot they want because the chairs are lightweight and they fold up for storing. These chairs would be perfect for us!
