I am thrilled to be a music teacher in the Chula Vista Elementary School District, teaching at a Title I school in a diverse neighborhood south of San Diego. My students are in grades K-6, and they have never received music class as part of their regular class rotations before we founded our program less than 5 years ago. They have embraced music class with enthusiasm and joy! Our students come from a large range of income and ability levels. Since introducing music as a regular subject, the teachers and students have already shared many stories about students singing on the playgrounds, guitars and ukuleles from home being strummed in the hallways, and music sneaking into class presentations. I love watching the confidence an otherwise reserved student can gain from a quality performance! Your donations can help us obtain the materials we need to keep growing and fostering positive change in our students!
About my class
