My school is in the heart of a city neighborhood in an urban neighborhood. A majority of students, from the neighborhood are either from the Dominican Republic or Puerto Rico. A substantial number of these students live in poverty and many are English Language learners. Our school also includes an autistic strand. There has and continues to be violence which shakes the community to its very core. Our school is a Kindergarten through 8th with a strong arts emphasis and parents who do support the work that we do with all the children. I work with K through 5th grades.
