These books, which have all received the Sunshine State Young Readers Award, will give my students more opportunities to fall in love with a book at their reading level. These books allow them to experience things they would otherwise never get to experience, and learn more about the world around them. Each year, I watch my students get excited over these books as they pass them around the classroom, eager to share with their friends.
These SSYRA books are a cornerstone of my class's love for reading, and the opportunity to hear these books read aloud -- and to read them on their own -- would mean the world. With these books, we will be able to have deeper, more meaningful conversations about what they are reading. We will be able to make more connections, both to our own lives and to other books we have read. Most importantly, it will give my students the chance to further their love of reading by having engaging, on-level books for them to enjoy.
