My students are in 1st grade for the 2017-18 school year. 70% of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch. My class is a pull-out class therefore, my E.S.E students are pulled out of my class with an E.S.E. teacher to a different room for Reading/Language Arts and yet another teacher and room for Math. The remaining time these students spend in my classroom fits in around our lunch schedule and the various therapies that each student receives. That time is further divided between Science, Social Studies, PE, Computer Lab, Spanish and Library time. It is challenging at best to create a cohesive, relational group of students. It then becomes essential to be very creative and take a concise and meaningful approach to teaching and assignments for this whole group of varied level learners.
