My classroom furniture is quite old and has been pieced together throughout the years from other classrooms. This project will not only provide my students to have more opportunities for language learning by creating a welcoming space it will also allow for more fluid groupings. These flexible seating options will give students the ability to make choices that will directly affect their independence and learning. They can choose to work in groups or independently rather than sitting in an old desk. The rug and flexible seating options will also make our classroom a prettier and more welcoming space for all students and families.
English Learners need as many opportunities to discuss and work together. We are working to preserve their first language and increase their knowledge and use of academic and social English language. To do this they need many varying times throughout the day to work in fluid groups. These seating options will allow for them to be comfortable and motivated while working.
These classroom materials will be a great benefit to my students. I look forward to introducing more grouping and seating options to my students. Thank you!
