According to the international study Family Scholarly Culture and Educational Success: Books and Schooling in 27 Nations, "Children growing up in homes with many books get 3 years more schooling than children from bookless homes, independent of their parents’ education, occupation, and class."
Although you can't control a child's home environment, you can influence their learning environment. The goal of creating this Book Flood project is to connect all readers--especially reluctant readers-- to books and genres for enjoyment as well as learning. It is imperative for students to develop a positive relationship with reading and recognize books as tools for success.
By donating to this project, you can improve a child's access to literature--perhaps influence their trajectory towards post-secondary education.
