The majority of my 4th grade students come from economically challenged homes. Our school day starts with every student getting a free breakfast so they can focus on fueling their minds instead of their bodies. Every year quite a few of my students do not have access to computer technology at home. In order for my students to someday be successful and productive citizens, I am teaching/encouraging them to have a growth mindset. I believe that with the right type of environment all students have the ability to learn and reach their full potential. I also feel that students are individual people and as such do not all learn in the same way. My goal, therefore, is to create a classroom that is an inviting, safe, and flexible learning environment where they can take academic risks and stretch their bodies as well as their minds.
