I want my students to feel relaxed and at home in my classroom. I have picked items that my students would love to sit in, like bean bag chairs and balls, and colorful stools.
If my classroom is a comfortable place to both rest and learn, then my students will want to show up daily and get the most out of my lessons. I appreciate any help I can get with this project as I am a public school teacher on a very tight budget.
I teach classes that include Acting, Speech, Sports Officiating, and other elective classes. I design my classes to be fun and comfortable for the learner, and we often need to have movable furniture to practice, or work on our lessons. Having flexible seating options like an area rug, bean bag chair, chair balls, and stools will be a huge help for the active learning we do in our classes. Flexible seating will also encourage students to actively participate in lessons. They won't feel "stuck" in their desks or like they cannot get up and move.
I am so excited to begin setting up a classroom with flexible seating and be the first teacher in our high school to show how a classroom can run and be fun without boring desks and rows!
