After engaging in Suminagashi, my students want to learn additional printmaking skills. Gelli Arts Printing Plates, brayers, and an assortment of acrylic paints will make a difference in their learning by providing them with alternative materials to print abstract compositions on paper. Using these materials, along with a variety of tools, recycled materials/textures, and stencils, students will learn new printmaking techniques. They will be given opportunities to advance their printmaking skills through experimentation to pursue ideas and meaning that emerge during the process of making mono prints. Over multiple classes, students will develop excellence through practice and constructive critique, reflecting on, revising, and refining their prints over time. These outcomes all meet the National Core Art Standards. Their finished prints will be exhibited in the spring, during Open House and/or at our annual Festival of the Arts!
