My fifth grade students are outstanding. I have the privilege of teaching a variety of kids. Some are the brightest in our school. Some come with learning or behavior challenges. In my class, they all are on one team with three goals to reach. One: Be prepared for success in middle school. Two: Achieve on the state standardized test. And finally, become life-long learners. My students come from low economic backgrounds. Some go home to an empty house with no one to offer homework help, as their parents are working. Some come to me with learning or behavior challenges. Some are looking for a person to motivate and believe in them. They are our future. It is my greatest goal to motivate and teach them before they move on to middle school.
